Airsoft guns are available from most gun shops, they do not fire lead pellets or real bullets. They shoot 6mm plastic balls that do minimal damage to people and property. These weapons are designed to shoot people and are less painful than paint-ball pellets but faster and smaller, they provide a much more realistic battle experience. The guns can run on battery, gas or be spring powered, most are modelled on real guns and look very realistic. Internationally Airsoft is a very fast growing sport with a huge following in Europe, Asia and North America.

With minimal protection needed (Safety goggles) it is quite a safe sport and it is enjoyed by thousands in New Zealand.
