New Member - Need Info

Hi guys.

I'm 19 years old, and I've done some airsoft before, with some friends in Ashburton, but it was very casual and not the most organized. When I moved to Chch last year, I had to stop, but now I'm really interested in starting it up again. I heard about TAG and I'm thrilled and surprized that there's clubs in Chch. I'd love to come along, and as I understand it, we meet up every Sunday. I'd love to come out this Sunday, but I need some information first. I'd be really really grateful if someone could help me and answer these questions;

I currently do not own ANY airsoft gear, except a springer M92F Berretta sidearm. I understand that I'm able to hire club guns. What guns are they, how much, and how much notice do I have to give to hire one? Also what is the procedure, do I have to provide my own ammo?

I understand that I need to purchase a ' hitmarker ' which I believe is a piece of red cloth that I raise when I'm out. I've read they're purchasable at the club for $12 - is that correct?

Does the club also sell high impact safety glasses? IF not, where might I be able to pick some up?

What does the $75 6 month membership fee cover?

My plan is to work on apparel, and get some clothing and proper footwear to use first, and then work on getting my own guns. Is it possible and okay with the club, if I were to hire a gun, everytime I came out, or is there a limit on that kind of thing?

Is there a limit to the amount of Sunday's I *DO NOT* participate in club shootings, before I'm removed from the club? Is there a system that exists that removes ' inactive ' members?

All in all, what prices am I looking at, to come and hire a weapon, get some glasses, the hitmarker, and any other gear I absolutely need to be able to come out on Sunday's and have some fun?

I appreciate your time and effort in helping me. I apologize if this wall of text comes across as excessive, arrogant or rude, but I'm pretty eager to get into airsoft professionally, however I'm new to the club scene, so I really need information.

Thanks again
Ethan. :)

Hi Ethan

We usually play every Sunday, however there wont be a game this weekend as alot of out members will be at our annual west coast game.
The club guns are JG G36's which are $20 per day including as much ammo as you will need.
Im pretty sure the club has some hit markers for newer players to use while renting a club gun.
Membership fees covers cost of running the club aka field rent, insurance, asnz fees, web hosting etc etc.
There is no required attendance or anything, along as your fees are up to date you are still a member.
Total cost to come out to a game is $20 which cover rent of gun, ammo, glasses, hitmarker.

$20 to cover the gun, glasses ammo AND hitmarker? That's really really good. I will be planning on buying my own ammo, glasses and hitmarker, but for the initial first few games, am I able to keep hiring out that stuff?
When I come to a game, should I bring $20 in cash to hire out that stuff, or do I pay prior to the Sunday?
Also, I believe it's four games that I can play before I need to pay the $75 membership fee right?

Out of curiousity, does TAG do any CQB stuff? I know that TAG mostly plays in a field / forestry area, but I'm keen to try out some CQB areas. Not a big issue, just curious.

Thanks for your reply! :)
Ethan.

Hey there, these may be helpful to you http://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/hunting-shooting/air-guns-parts/parts-accessories/auction-748466194.htm.
or you can buy 'em from the store (CRANFORD ST) for $10. At this stage TAG dont have a CQB area. yes four games free I belive, and you pay on the day.
Also I think (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that after 4 games you can play for $5 a day+ gun hire, ie: you don't need to join straight away to continue playing...
Most of the guys will also let you feel/touch/shoot their guns so you get an idea of whats out there and they'll be only too happy to point you in the right direction for better brands etc..
hope that helps some..?

Yeah thank you that helps heaps!! :) Much appreciated mate. I don't want to be annoying and ask to see peoples' guns, but I've only fire a few gas and AEG weapons, and only owned a springers before, so I'd be really interested in seeing how different brands and weapons work. That would be pretty cool.
Thank you for your help. :)

Hey Ethan

You can keep hiring gear for as long as you need it.

Just to clarify, you can play your first four games for free and after that you can apply for membership. Once your membership has been accepted, you pay your membership subs and you're in.

Those mesh goggles that straightjacket linked will do the job, but if you're after a pair of safety glasses, you can pick these up from bunnings.

I prefer atleast a little bit of notice before you can hire a club gun, but realistically I bring out the club gear every week so it doesn't matter if you decide to come out at the last minute. Cash on the day is preferred.

You can purchase a hit marker from the club or you can get one yourself. They are a required piece of kit (along with a whistle), so it doesn't matter where it comes from as long as you have it.

As Alroys said, we will be out on the coast this weekend for our annual coast game, but we will be playing at our normal field the week after. See you there.

Hi there Sneakers

Does any kind of whistle work? Just one that I can blow if I get lost or something, right?
What qualifies as a hit marker?
Will these safety glasses work - http://www.armory.co.nz/estore/style/ws20320.aspx I don't like the idea of looking through mesh in my googles, so I'll try and go for a clear plastic pair if possible.

So the Sunday I come down, bring $35 cash, $20 for the hire of the gun and ammo, and $15 to purchase a hitmarker?

Re: New Member - Need Info

You will have the use of a hit marker when you hire the gear, so you can just bring $20 for your first day out.

Any kind of whistle will work, as long as it is nice and loud. They are for use if you get lost or manage to injure yourself.

Just about anything that is bright orange/red/fluorescent will do as long as you can pull it out and put it away easily.

Those goggles are sold by an airsoft retailer, so I would certainly hope they are suitable for airsoft. If you have any doubts, I would recommend testing them before you use them.

Awesome. I just ordered the safety glasses so hopefully that'll arrive here without problem and I should be good to go the next Sunday shooting. Thanks for your help guys. :)
