Cool, do you reckon I could check it out when it arrives ZA1? What model did you order, and how much did it cost you?

Talk or PM Rogue he will be able to help you with the price etc.
When he gets them he will be able to show you.
They are selling at $215 USD I believe.

Well I guess as an armourer I get the all the bad news cases.
Hey I'm not bagging the G&G guys as they have been kind enough to give me a free gun for the last two years running.
However I just don't believe its good workmanship in regards to the sloppy mag well problems
and we have tried a new mag catch as in the case of ZA1's guns that did work or as Manly used "tape' was applied to the top of the mags in an attempt to get them to seat correctly.
I currently have one that's the MAG loaner that looks a shit with Magpul bits but requires the mag well to be "packed"
It didn't feed correctly straight from the box even with the mag included and wouldn't feed with:
King Arms
Maggul
G&P
Marui (and lets be honest they work in everything)
So I brought a new body (did it on the cheap) and still the same issue
As a retailer I just can't sell a gun to a player if it's not likely to shoot correctly straight from the box.
If you can try before you by then I would say the G&G was a good option, but if you can't then your taking a gamble and a gun that has inconsistent feed issues is a liability in the field and plain frustrating.
Unfortunately we sold our last JG G36K to the club and you just can't get them.
Personally as ZA1 has said the Marui guns are great and I swear by my M4
However in the current climate they are badly over priced and plastic bodies are old school
Why pay more for plastic when you can get a full metal body for less.
If you do go for the M4 my advice would be to get one with a "full length metal barrel" or your going to have "wobble" problems
Re: Trademe Gun Advice
Cheers for that Rogue. So after lots of different recommendations over the course of this thread, a full-length metal-bodied King Arms M4A1 is sounding like the best option now. As mentioned above, E-Hobby Asia supply them for US$215 (though currently out of stock
), which translates to about NZ$310. However I imagine there's a bit of a price mark-up after getting them modified to semi-auto and shipped here and so on. What can I realistically expect to pay for a King Arms M4A1 or similar?
EDIT: Just received a reply from Glen of MAG. He reckons they can do the KA M4 for Big pink bunny rabbit including shipping and conversion, plus up to a blue furry monkey for battery/charger, plus extra for mags.
Edit: Cleansed.

Rogue is MAG
Also we try and keep the final prices - non public.
Re: Trademe Gun Advice
ah right, sweet as. In that case, you might want to cleanse that last post in which you quoted me then
Anyway, looks like my next course of action is to check out one of the clubbies' King Arms M4s. Hopefully there'll be one there this Sunday that I can check out?

I don't think they will arrive before this Sunday ?
Re: Trademe Gun Advice
EchoDog has a king arms M4, I belive he wil be there on sunday.
Its a really nice gun.....even for an M4.

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
their M4s look alright, and to be sure the ones i've seen seem solid enough... but to be honest kings arms material is a little on the cheap side. Their FALs, although nice to look at, when you get them apart they just appear to be all.. cheap.
the new Gen3 SRC M4s and HK416s are awesome.. feel free to have a look at mine sunday if i'm out. They are real solid, no wobble at all. You're looking at around $560 shipped to your door for one
There is also a Star M16 on the airsoft forums at the moment. These things are REAL nice. They have a quick-change spring system as well. The guy wants $450 at the moment for it. Also something to consider is the TM P90 on the forums for $400ono.. i reckon give him 380 shipped or something and you might be on to a winner. Good thing about the P90s is the V6 mech used is about the best they ever made. Other guns to consider are the ICS Sig552 at the armory for $519, ARES UMP for $389
Of course.. it's all opinion. some people rave about some brands and shit on others, and vice versa. To be honest I'd rather buy a gun from an NZ retailer such as MAG, ASGC or The Armory so that if anything goes wrong with it in the first 30-60 days you'll have some cover under CGA. And of course the advantage of MAG is they are right here in chch!

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
haha, ok cheers, I'd be keen to check that out this weekend Acey. I just checked out their M4A1 on http://ontargetairsoft.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=184 - looks good, and I like that it comes with a vertical foregrip. Then again, at this point I'm beginning to lose track of all the different M4s, I've looked at so many that they're all just bleeding together.
I'd be into an M4 / HK416 and maybe a Sig552. Not so into the idea of a M16, UMP or P90. Frankly the idea of having a semi-auto P90 sounds a bit daft to me, considering their main point of attraction is that they're a bullet hose.
In the meantime, I'll just wait for the next TAG member to post a message about how they've personally found SRC guns to be cheap and unreliable, and that what I really want is an M4 from [insert other brand here], because they're much better made and are a bargain at only [three times my initial budget], batteries not included.

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
to be honest dude.. if you're looking for a gun under $300,you'll need to go plastic.. like this SRC sportsline model
http://www.asgc.co.nz/product_info.php? ... cts_id=403
or this G&G plastica
http://www.armory.co.nz/cat_36/tov_45.html
alternatively, ASGC do offer a layby service.. i used it to buy my HK416

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
Best bet is to get a gun then try it with some of the different mags that the other members have. Not all M4 mags work in all M4's.
There are cheaper M4 low caps about than The Armory's ones.

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
Yeah, I just noticed today that http://www.armory.co.nz/cat_36/tov_45.html is not in fact identical to the CQB http://www.armory.co.nz/cat_36/tov_42.html sans the combo deal - on closer inspection it's the full-length barrel version, which is just what I was after. D'oh! So apart from the lack of a grip, it's pretty much exactly the gun I was looking for all along.
I'm currently questioning the Armory dude on Trademe to find out how difficult it would be to attach a vertical foregrip, but at this point I am about 80% sure that it's the one for me
. Sounds like it's a little bit riskier than the equivalent from KA/SRC/Marui/G&P/ARES/whoever, but at $259 it's half the price so I think it's the right trade-off for my budget.
I'll also be looking to get some batteries, a charger, BBs, a sling, low-cap mags, knee pads, and a vertical foregrip + grip mounting rail. I'm guessing the club armourer is the man to see about most of those, so I'll PM Rogue/Glen. Alternatively if anyone has any of those lying around that they're willing to part with, let me know.
Thanks a bunch for the help everyone, it's been much appreciated! My flatmates J3T7 and Tauron have been keeping an eye on this thread as well, the three of us have gained some good tips. Cheers!

Re: Trademe Gun Advice
You do realise that The Armory is the same as thearmory on Trademe?
Re: Trademe Gun Advice
To attach a for grip you will need to have a rail.
